Yesteryear Collection

The Muscle Car Era stretched from 1964 through the early 1970s. And each year brought larger, faster, gutsier models. The oil embargo would ultimately bring the muscle era to a close, but not before Detroit produced some of history's greatest automotive legends, including the 1971 Plymouth Barracuda. The last of this great "Barracudas," the 1971 model pulled out all the stops. Marketed as a ready-made street car as well as a rough and ready racer, the '71 'Cuda came with three two-barrel carburetors, a huge tub-shaped air cleaner and enough chrome to guarantee that the car got noticed. In addition to the standard 383 V-8 engine or the optional 426 Hemi engine, the '71 could be equipped with an incredible 440 V-8 that produced a victory-snatching 390 horsepower.

Now this powerful muscle car is back in a die-cast replica so exacting, it is painted in the original Lime Light factory colour and is crafted to capture such authentic details as the rear spoiler and the "440-B" designation on the prominent black hood scoop. Your model captures the extra touches that made the '71 'Cuda 440 such a crowd pleaser; the racing stripes along the sides; the louvered strips that stretch from wheel well to wheel well; the larger rear tyres that made the car seem as if it was always gunning at the starting line; and twin exhausts capped with chrome-finished megaphones. A Platinum Select Edition crafted to the highest standards, your model is produced by - and available only from - Matchbox Collectibles.
